This proposal deviates from existing proposal templates in order to demonstrate the generalized proposal template that this proposal would implement.
If passed, this proposal would implement a generalized template for Juicebox proposals.
This proposal will implement a new template for Juicebox proposals that bears similarity to proposal templates in other established web3 communities. The new prompts will be:
Summary, Abstract, Motivation, Risks, Specification, Rationale, Timeframe, and Copyright Disclaimer.
This new template will not replace current proposal templates—for the time being, it will supplement them.
The various templates in use right now lack the consistency and modularity that a generalized template would provide. Proposals that don’t exactly fit within a category are often forced to use a template that does not apply. Many of the prompts within the current templates are not applicable to many proposals within their respective categories, leading to forced, awkward answers. The goal of this generalized proposal template is to maximize information density and the readability of future proposals.
For newer contributors, the specific prompts in existing templates can be of value—if someone does not know how to propose a trial payment, the template can be a valuable resource. To mitigate this risk, the generalized proposal template will appear alongside existing templates for the time being.
Another risk lies in the disruption of process. Many contributors are used to filling out the existing templates, meaning that any change to the process could slow things down. Although this is an initial risk, the generalized proposal template will allow for more effective analysis and greater understanding of various prompts in the long run—when every proposal has the same prompts, the efficacy and efficiency of those prompts becomes much easier to evaluate.
The rationale for the format, style, and structure of the generalized proposal template is based on:
