Mock Interview Event – January 31, 2026 | Quick Guide for Interviewers

Thank you for volunteering today! You're helping 127 motivated students (from our CORE & HUB programs) practice real interviews for solar/construction careers.

Your Role

● Stay at your assigned Station all day—students rotate to you.

● Conduct 12-minute sessions: 10 minutes asking/ discussing questions + 2 minutes giving constructive feedback.

● Use the Question Bank (below) — pick up to 5 per student (behavioral focus works best).

● Complete the Individual Rubric for each student (one per interview) — jot notes & score during/after.

● Be encouraging! These students are job-ready (NCCER, OSHA 30, hands-on experience) and equity-eligible.

Schedule Overview

● 8:30 AM: Arrive/check-in, pick up folder.

● 8:45 AM: Welcome remarks.

● Session 1 (76 students): 9:00 AM – 10:24 AM (7 rounds). ● Buffer/Reset: 10:24 – 10:36 AM.

● Session 2 (50 students): 10:36 AM – 11:36 AM (5 rounds). ● ~11:45 AM: Wrap-up.

Rotation Reminder

● Students get 2 interviews total (different interviewers).

● Their 2nd station = your station + 10 (if >22, subtract 22). E.g., Station 5 → 15; Station 22 → 10.

● If a student is late/no-show: Use time for notes or short break. Flag staff if needed. [Red Lanyards]

Tips

● Start with a warm welcome: “Hi [Name], thanks for coming—tell me a bit about yourself.” ● End with feedback: Strengths first, then 1–2 actionable improvements.
