🎉 The Role
Your Core Responsibilities
- Contribute to novel computer vision and machine learning algorithms development that meet real-world performance and safety enhancements for the users of the system
- Contribute to organizing large quantities of surgical vision data for algorithm development purposes
- Apply state-of-the-art knowledge in areas of computer vision and machine learning to surgical vision domain
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (Software and Clinical) to ensure the engineering integrity and clinical relevance of the project.
- Conduct technical presentations of the project in a cross-functional team environment
- Contribute to invention disclosures and patents in support of the company’s technology portfolio
Your Day-to-day Activities
You will participate in the development of the Maestro Platform. You will be prototyping machine learning frameworks for surgical vision applications.
How You’ll Fit In
- You will be an integral part of the Moon Surgical team as we develop new features for the next-generation of the Maestro platform. It is very likely that one, or more, of the features that you work on will be used by surgeons to perform a critical procedure on their patients. You will report to our Head of Computer Vision as you obtain hands-on experience within a growing medical device start-up.
- This full-time (40 hours/week), paid internship will be on-site at our office in San Carlos, California. At this ideal Bay Area location, we are mid-way between San Francisco and San Jose with easy access to city life, nature, the Pacific Ocean, and any activities you may enjoy doing during your summer with Moon Surgical.
🧠Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
- PhD or Master’s candidate in computer science, electrical engineering, robotics or relevant fields.
- Hands-on experience with computer vision approaches including semantic segmentation, scene understanding, object detection and tracking
- Familiarity with state-of-the-art models, such as CNNs, LSTMs and Transformers
- Hands-on experience with deep learning libraries such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
- Programming proficiency in Python and familiarity with C++
- Experience with medical robotics projects is a plus
- Work on-site at our San Carlos, California office
