The integration of the tracking code of Friendly Automate is necessary to enable you to track the actions of your contacts as well as your unknown visitors on your website.

If you are using WordPress, you can easily add the tracking code with a plugin. Here you can find a tutorial:

How to use the WordPress plugin to add the tracking code for Friendly Automate and use shortcodes

Otherwise you can manually embed the tracking code on your site to use Friendly Automate with any CMS.

To view the tracking code, please click on the cogwheel in the upper right corner, then on "Configuration" and then on "Tracking settings":

Now copy the code and embed it on every page of your website and landing pages - preferably directly before the closing </body> tag.

To verify if the tracking works, please click on "Contacts" and then on the right side of the button to see the "anonymous contacts". If the tracking works, you will see all visits to your website there live:

Privacy info

If you are targeting consumers in Switzerland or the EU, you must inform your website visitors about the tracking. The most common way to do this is through a cookie banner.

Until now, this was not necessary in Switzerland. However, the revised FADP will apply from September 2023, which requires you to inform your website visitors about the use of cookies. As far as we know, consent is not necessary; it should be sufficient to display an information banner for a short time.

In the EU, the GDPR applies, according to which you must actively ask your website visitors for consent to set cookies. So your cookie banner should include at least options to consent and opt-out of tracking.

If you are targeting customers in Switzerland as well as in the EU, it will make sense to choose the GDPR-compliant option.
