context

In 2020 I was called by OWSE to improve the user experience from one of their products, called Integra ADE02.

OWSE is a company that brings solutions and innovation to logistics and port sector since 1998.

Mainly composed by engineers, they started to miss a more careful look at their products when it comes to user experience, then contracted me as a freelancer for a month.

In 2019, a new Brazilian law was created establishing that every customs and port must send in information about everything that enters or gets out them to Receita Federal. Integra ADE02 system was developed to do this in real-time and automatically, preventing them from work against the law.

challenge

Integra ADE02 is a mix of physical structures with software that sends information automatically to Receita Federal.

The system should have an interface though, that allows employees to have control over what's going on and be aware to see if there were any errors in information traffic. Also, they should be able to input any information manually, if something didn't work as planned.

During the first talk with stakeholders, their main need was to make their product look prettier and saleable.

I proposed starting with a UX analysis and then go back to them with my impressions, so we could work together on solutions.

As we only had a month to get the changes done and published, I proposed us to have 3 checkpoints along with the project. Also, my contact with the front-end developer was made on a daily basis, always trying to balance time, effort, and impact.

Our goal here was to make the best decisions considering a very short period of time and all the variables we had.
