At a Glance

Industry professionals introduce students to a unique and varied world of careers in design.

One of the best ways for students to learn about design is by being immersed in it — through our Industry Exposure pillar, we aim to introduce high school students to a variety of design-related careers. By bridging the gap between design as a concept and design as a practice, the barrier of entry into careers can be lowered.

• Company and organization visits (in-person or remote) help to demystify the workplace.
• Webinars, panels, and forums spark conversation between students and professionals and create a new lane of communication.
• Mentorship and shadowing allow students to have a more personal experience with a field or organization they care about.

One particular focus of IDOT is to create varied experiences. Design as a discipline exists in almost every field imaginable — it isn't limited to people with "designer" in their job title. The Industry Exposure pillar will aim to explore unique and unconventional applications of design.
