Things that would have to be resolved to make the world a utopia of sorts:
- Climate stuff:
- eliminate suburbs
- eliminate 90% car usage
- maximize consumption of locally grown produce and products
- minimize plastics, consumerism
- normalize community food gardens—installed in all urban communities and partially maintained by everyone, perhaps by mandate until normalized
- Also, on food: diversify seeds! Eliminate most GMOs and unsafe pesticides. better the farming industry (promote environmentally safe and harmonious farming practices)…and…reduce food waste, maximizing its use in compost at minimum. Empower The People™️ to compost and share excess food. Criminalize food hoarding (when unethical? idk, this is half-baked) and grocery store food waste (when intentionally throwing away perfectly safe-but-expired food and preventing access to this less desirable food).
- increase individual capacity for clothing repair and production
- eliminate most usages of synthetic fibers (all forms? when is it mostly necessary? for kayaking and other water-based activities, but what else?)
- maximize “cleaner” energy solutions: solar, hydro, nuclear (fission AND fusion…?)
- norm into relative minimalism in a consumerist culture (relatively few possessions)
- effective ways to pull CO2 out of atmosphere, clear microplastics and forever chemicals from environment.
- People things:
- increase general emotional hygiene and intelligence
- higher standards on communication norms
- mutual care for each other
- norms around caring for others:
- visit the sick and the imprisoned. make it as normal and obligatory as wishing a loved one a happy birthday.
- take care of our elderly properly
- legally obligate corporations to care for the community and for their employees and for the environment. make shareholders the lesser important aspect. (ruin GDP? fuck, idk. this sucks. but maybe we can’t be rich and healthy at the same time. we might open ourselves up to being taken advantage of by other countries.)
- de-normalize allowing abuses; punishing abusively aggressive behavior.
- protect our children… actually.
- denormalize nuclear families. they’re bullshit. we know they’re bullshit. they make bad situations so much worse (stuck with parents who irrationally hate you and abuse you? well, you’re stuck with them unless CPS gets a call and displaces you to a chaotic situation and likely suffer many abuses!), and generally create low-support environments and community alienation.
- EDUCATION
- wtf fix education…omg. teach things that make sense. make it make sense.
- NOT teaching militaristic uniformity or obedience. but…what should it teach, then?
- ugh then you have to have a better community support structure so that kids in unsupportive homes can still find the support they need for a healthy upbringing.
- teach emotional intelligence in curriculum?? (whose?)
- teach self-advocacy.
- HEALTH:
- universal health care…and also an emphasis on sickness prevention
- NO FAKE FOODS! Literally just this. make food advertisement illegal. make fresh foods normed into. make addictive trash foods illegal. have similar precautions around food additives that healthier countries already have. find better ways of food preservation.
- prescriptions that are NON ADDICTIVE. make drug advertisements to the public illegal like it is in other countries.
- better food and movement will make us physically healthier (no fake foods, norms around an active lifestyle and non-car lives)
- FDA doing better, overall, to enforce saner standards in what does and does not get approved?
- make health care not something the government can criminalize or prevent… probably some exceptions, but I’m thinking namely about abortion being criminalized and heavily restricted to the detriment of the a patient’s health and wellbeing, contraception being defunded and effectively banned in some cases (a doctor refusing to prescribe it for personal religious reasons), sex affirming medications and procedures being banned.
- effectively eliminate/minimize non-psychedelic drug usage:
- prevent the most socially harmful and health ruining drugs (meth, heroine, fentanyl, pcp,…) from entering the country…? make it so that it’s just not profitable? what would lead to that? supply/demand stuff? pressuring other countries to clean up their drug cartels?
- increase social support and social-emotional health to reduce need for substances (re: rats and cocaine experiment)
- change drinking culture so that being drunk is frowned upon and not normalized. instill healthy drinking habits and normalize sobriety.
- law enforcement and prisons:
- unfuck the prison system; make them sane, safe, and humane. Actual rehabilitation, not punishment or enslavement.
- cops that are held to stringent standards of protecting and caring for those they protect, at most costs. Abolish incentives for abuse and power plays. Reduce power over those they protect.
- Guns… automatic weapons should be criminalized. period. Maybe further should be done for hand guns. These are literally tools of murder and serve no other purpose than to kill. Literally. Hunting, self-defense, offensive attacks. Should we really be enabling ease of access to murder tools? (maybe they belong to the community or something to protect a community from the govt… idk, would having guns really prevent a military assault from decimating a community? Maybe I’m straw-manning this, but I genuinely don’t perceive that—in this day and age—having some automatic weapons will be enough to defend oneself and ones community from any military.)
- HOUSING:
- change zoning laws; ban creation of new suburbs. Suburbs are dumb, anyway. Get rid of them? Make city living actually nice—small cities, not necessarily big cities. Towns that aren’t sprawling. That’s all.
- better transportation—eliminate need for cars within city limits, banning them from many streets. Bikes and scooters and walkable paths. Human-friendly cities.
- Nix corporate landlords, period. Nix landlords over all. Owning land and renting it out for profit should be minimized.
- make real estate own up to the disaster they’ve created.
I think I overall want to make an even playing field. Reduce extremes in richness to poverty. Install UBI, spread out wealth. How much of this is even possible? On a macro or micro scale? Is this only something that can be mostly done in the micro and not the macro? It’s all sounding rather communist/socialist, so how do we reduce the amount of corruption and systemic abuses? How?
