CHRIS: What is up, boils and ghouls? Welcome to another episode of Tales From The Script, a podcast focused on frontend web development, accessibility, performance, user experience, all the fun frontend things mixed with a little bit of horror. Today, I have a pretty dope guest on, James Q Quick. What is up, James?

JAMES: What's going on? How you doin'?

CHRIS: I got moved to a new team on Tuesday, so I'm trying to wrap up stuff for my current team. And somebody got moved into production and it was screwed up. So, I had to like revert it. And now, I'm just done working for the day. And I'm really, really hungry.

JAMES: I had my entire bathroom ripped out today, so we had contractors all day long with a lot of noise. I didn't get much done today and they'll be back tomorrow, so I won't get much done tomorrow either. But at the end of all this, I'll have a fancy new bathroom.

CHRIS: Ooh, nice. I dig that. Well, you kind of know how this goes. You've heard a couple episodes. I have to ask you, what is your favorite horror movie?

JAMES: [Laughs] I spent a little bit of time thinking about that, actually, because that's not really my favorite genre. When I was younger, it used to be the Saw movies. I really enjoyed those. I would say probably now, all-time favorite is the first of the remakes of It. I haven't actually seen the second one, which is really bad of me because I should have. But that is the first of the remakes is actually one of my favorite movies of all time. I thought that one was absolutely incredible.

And then if we're not limiting ourselves to movies, I go ahead and give a shout out to the Supernatural, since we haven't --

CHRIS: Oh! I knew he was going to bring it up.

JAMES: [Laughs] One of the best TV shows, one of my favorites of all time.

CHRIS: For anybody that doesn't know, James and I have something in common besides love for the web. I was watching one of his streams or one of the videos on his YouTube channel. And I thought I saw a poster of the Winchester brothers in the background. And I was like, "This guy's a [inaudible] too. I bet you this is Supernatural." And sure shit it is. Come to find out, we both have a love for Supernatural. I might be the bigger fan because I have toys and cars and posters, but I don't know. How much swag do you have?

JAMES: That's honestly probably it. Got the big movie poster. My brother-in-law actually got me for Christmas this year or the year before. I can't remember. Got that prominently displayed on the wall here in the office. So yeah, you might be a bigger fan in terms of the amount of swag, but definitely a huge Supernatural fan.

CHRIS: Cool. Well, for the people that might not be familiar with you and what you do, give us a little rundown.

JAMES: Like you said, I'm James Quick, kind of go by the brand of James Q Quick, middle initial is Quentin. Fun fact. I consider myself to be three different things: a developer, a speaker, and a teacher. And I think that kind of falls into the category of a lot of what people and developer relations and developer advocacy and evangelists and all the different titles. Those are the kinds of things that we typically do. I think we'll probably talk about that more later on. But stuff that I do. I run a YouTube channel/James Q Quick. I do live streams, which is relatively new. James Q Quick on Twitch as well. I do articles. I wrote for Scotch as the platform for a while. Now, been moving stuff to my personal blog recently and have done a lot of teaching either in-person or online. So, it's the kind of activities that I've been doing the last seven or almost eight years or so. It's been a while now.

CHRIS: Nice. There's a lot of stuff that you do. There's a lot of community engagement that you're a part of. And I'm super jelly because I want to do the Twitch thing and I want to start a YouTube channel. And since I don't write JavaScript, nobody wants to see me write markup in CSS.

JAMES: [Laughs] Well, for what it's worth, [crosstalk].

CHRIS: There we go. Well, at least I got one fan out there. I'm bullshitting. I know there's a lot of people out there.

JAMES: Yeah.

CHRIS: Today, we're going to talk a little bit about Imposter Syndrome and OAuth2. Is that right?

JAMES: Sweet. Yeah, and I think we were talking about this right before, it's kind of an odd title, I think. But I'll get into my take on Imposter Syndrome in my experience, and then kind of recently my transition to where I am in my job and my career and how that kind of plays in together. So I thought it'd be a fun combination of stuff to talk about.
