- Impeccable Agreements
- A commitment is a general direction of your life’s orientation and is made between an individual and the universe.
- An agreement is made between two people and includes who will do what and by when.
- Four Practices You Must Master:
- Making clear agreements: (1) Be precise about who will do what by when and (2) gaining full commitment from everyone involved. Whole body yes (mind, emotions, will, and body).
- Keeping agreements: Impeccable = keeping 90% of your agreements. Do what you say you will when you say you will.
- Renegotiating agreements: As soon as you realize you can’t keep an agreement, communicate directly and renegotiate. Renegotiating can include: (1) deciding not to do it at all, (2) changing the scope of the “what” it is, (3) changing the “by when.” Impeccable = renegotiating less than 10% of agreements.
- Cleaning up broken agreements: “I did not keep my agreement, I know that could damage trust with you, and I want to know if there is anything I can do to repair that.” Avoid making excuses or explaining why you broke the agreement.“I didn’t do it; I take 100% responsibility for not doing it.”
