This project is changing to include a sculptural presentation. It will include a 3D printed body with 4 long legs allowing it to be separate from the wall where you would expect a clock to be found. When it exists in the space as a sculptural object with a "body" it functions differently than a clock on the wall. I hope this gives viewers an alternative relationship to the idea of time.

It functions in in the same way as a regular clock with minutes and seconds etc but the symbols representing them are different, geometric shapes. I like The idea of time represented in a visually interesting way that is aesthetic and not purely functional. Its not the thing you look at if you need to get to work on time or catch a train but it still "tells" the times in a way. I think if you had it for long enough you would eventually be able to decode it but it wouldn't be necessary to appreciated it as a "time object"

Personally I feel like I want to be less connected all the time. Less "online", less emails. I want to not have the clock ticking over my head as I work. Counting hours and minutes to make sure I am painting between the lines. I want to see time but I dont want it to see me. Something to let me know the world is still spinning, things are moving along, changing, but I dont have to worry about it.

Each moment will have a unique visual signature unlike our traditional timekeeping methods which repeats the same visual representation every day, over and over again. I like the idea of unique moments rather than repeated cycles. more ideas to explore here.
