Phases of Customer Discovery: Discover and Define

Research and insights are the key. Good ideas grow from a solid understanding of the needs and desires of your target group. You gain insights by exchanging ideas with your potential target group. In this way you correct possible misinformation you have researched about your target group.

After creating a user persona, you can state the nature of the problem you are trying to solve. By defining the problem you have a starting point for how to solve it. For more information, look up Customer Discovery.

The next phases: Ideation and Prototyping

The phases ideation and prototyping mirror the previous two phases.

Ideation is the process of trying to generate as many ideas as possible to solve the stated problem. It is not important how silly or seemingly impossible the idea is. The more ideas you have, the more good solutions can exist.

Similar to "Research & Insights" "Prototypes" thins the number of ideas from ideation by separating those ideas too unrealistic to be ever put into practice from those that have a chance to become a Minimal Viable Product (MVP).
