This week I experimented with p5.java script and drew some very simple shapes, such as rectangles, squares, and ellipses. These are very simple, but surprisingly, it was really fun watching the code turn into graphics instantly.

I love learning different instruments, I have been thinking about creating some small interactive projects involving music. For example, playing the note or altering the pitch could cause the shapes on the screen to change size and color or move about differently-the idea would be to "see" the music rather than just hear it. I also would like to use coding to creative “virtual instruments ” such as Trumpet or Trombone, as they are very difficult for beginner to learn.

I majored in math and stats in undergrad , so I am very used to formulas and models but I barely have any experience as a programmer. Still, I feel coding is a little bit like math: you take a big problem and divide it into smaller steps, then solve one by one. Sometimes the coordinates confuse me, but after doing it a few times, it starts making sense.

The p5.Web Editor seems very friendly for beginners. I hope I'll keep on experimenting and find some way to combine math logic with musical fun and create a couple of small interactive pieces.
