What’s ChowNow?

ChowNow is an all-in-one digital toolbox for restaurants. They allow for commission-free online sales, put restaurants at customers’ fingertips, and simplify restaurant operations. Restaurants are placed on popular sites and the ChowNow restaurant discovery app can increase online sales by up to 27%! If the establishment has a website they can implement the ChowNow ordering system as well as have their own branded mobile app. From these systems, they can give customer data and marketing insights to the owners. This can help them build their restaurant to new heights. The ChowNow system handles delivery, dine-in, and pickup orders all in one place. They even have a contact-less dine-in option. To top things off they offer 24/7 customer support and respond to chats within 30 seconds.

Why an email sequence?

Taking a look at their website their main focus is local restaurants. Because these are small businesses with small teams I thought the best person to reach out to is the owner. The owner usually handles everything and they are very busy people so I kept all of the emails short and sweet. I also figured it’s better to email them rather than call because an email can be answered on their own time instead of declining a call because they’re doing a million things at the restaurant.

Target audience

It is important to differentiate between restaurants that are already using third-party apps and those that aren’t. They still reap the same benefits but the pitch is different. The pitch for the third-party app user will focus more on saving money on commission fees. The pitch for those that aren’t on third-party apps will focus more on growth and marketing opportunities provided by ChowNow. Let’s take a look at the first email sequence.

The email sequences

The first email sequence is aimed at restaurants that are already using third-party apps for orders. Because the focus of the website itself is to schedule a demo call with an expert, I carried that into the emails.

Cold email

For the first email I wrote “Tired of commission fees yet?” to hint that I have the solution for that immediately. I kept it brief, alerted the owner that I can reduce their cost on commissions by at least 15% and closed out with a CTA. In this case, a demo call for the following week.
