Who We Hire
We want Makerpad to be a place of opportunity for autonomy, growth, ownership and creativity—and fun! That said, there are similar qualities we look for in the people we bring onto the team. We look for people who;
- Enjoy working autonomously. This means being your own manager—no one is going to be micro-managing you, so you need to manage your own workload. You should also be happy and comfortable working remotely, sometimes with little contact with the team.
- Are comfortable working in an agile way. We move fast and iterate often. If change scares you, this might not be the right team for you.
- Are willing to 'get their hands dirty'. You should proactively work at a micro level wherever required in order to make good progress.
- Hold themselves accountable. We're a small team and if you drop the ball, it can impact everyone and the company. So don't do it 🙂
- Bring lots of ideas but also have an understanding that we can't do it all. We welcome enthusiasm and encourage everyone to contribute ideas and suggestions, always. But being a small company, we don't have the resource to follow through on everything you might want to do. We hire people who won't get demoralized by this way of working, and will still show up with the same enthusiasm every day.
How We Hire
- Once we receive your application we will review it internally and may ask for further information based on your responses. Not all applications will be replied to due to the volume of requests we get.
- You'll be asked to join a 30-minute call with our CEO, Ben Tossell to get to know you.
- There may be a follow-up call with another member of the team.
- If your skills are everything we hoped they'd be and more, you'll join the Makerpad team for a 2-week paid trial (or longer, if this has been agreed).
- During the trial we'll show you how how we work and get you up to speed with your potential role at Makerpad.
- We'll review your work once the trial is over, and if both parties want to continue, we'll go from there!
