I’m going to be completly honest with you, I’m on my third try in college. BUT, that doesn’t mean I don’t know how to handle everything that comes with it. Here are some things I do as a A student with ADHD to help me through college.
You don’t need a bunch of supplies, but what you get is very important. Invest in high quality pieces that you can use throughout the entire year.
I HATE pre printed planners. There’s always something you don’t need that just takes up space or it’s pretty on the outside but the prints inside are ugly… I hate them. I just buy a lined or dodded empty notebook and divide the pages how I want to for each subject. If you are a pre printed planner girly, search for one that meets your expertations.
My favorite pens to write with are either the Frixion clickler 07 pens, you know, the ones that have an ereaser. I write a bunch of mistakes and these are easy to quickly change something without having to use a bunch of white out. You can also but refill ink patterns online or in the store, you also have different colours. Or I use a standard ink pen, you can also get a special ereaser pen to undo ink, which is nice. Writing with an old school fountain pen gives old money vibes.
I use 3 highlighters, one for titles, one for important things and one for things that aren’t that important but still need to stand out. For coloured pens I use 4; one for dates, one for subtitles, one for sub- subtitles and one for other things I would like to set in a colour. My favorite highlighter brands are Zebra Mild Liners and Stabilo. For coloured pens I really love Paper Mate. Pick colours that fit in your aesthetic if you can to make it more personal.
I have 3 notebooks, one that is divided in 3 subjects and one just plain notebook with lines and one binded one for my intership. The 3 subject notebook stays the way it is and things from the one subject notebook I put away in seperate binders to avoid mix ups. I also use post - it notes to write down exam questions or make other important things stand out. I keep a folder in my bag to store loose papers and hand outs so those don’t get lost. As a bag I use the large Marc Jacobs tote bag. This thing is THE best bag for school (and traveling), it’s a bit pricy but it’s spacious and durable and you look fashionable wearing it.
It’s very important to have some sort of tech for college or university. A lot of schools have listed what divices are suitable for your major on their website. I have an Ipad, but I found it isn’t that easy to use for me personally so I use my MacBook Air at school and my PC at home.
Underneat I listed some apps I use for my college life.
Notion is an online notes space. It’s very versitile and easy to use once you get the hang of it. A lot of people have made templates of Academic journal pages which are a must for me. I have one with all my subjects, to-do’s, summaries,… I use it daily. You can also add your presentation or document links to your pages for easy access. Avalable for IOS and Android on any divice.
