While working on aws windows ec2 instance, i have observed that, sometimes, not all the perfmon perf Counters/metrics are available, and error appear when perfmon starts, see below image.

And as a result, we will not be able to add the missing perf Counters/metrics. There are multiple ways to resolve. As of now i have found the below option very helpful and super quick-

Solution Rebuild the perf Counters/metrics

1. Open CMD

2. Run following commands to rebuild the counters one by another or copy-paste all in one shot.

3. Resync the counters with Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI):

   cd c:\\windows\\system32
   lodctr /R
   cd c:\\windows\\sysWOW64
   lodctr /R
   WINMGMT.EXE /RESYNCPERF
   

4. Stop and restart the Perfmon.

5. Check and verify the counters, if the missing one are available now and no error pops up while starting the perfmon.

6. Try adding the required counters.
