Step 1: On your home screen, scroll down to your taskbar at the bottom of your screen and click on your search bar (bottom left). Once you’ve clicked on your search bar, type “settings” into the search bar. Once the “settings” option populates at the top of the window, click on it.
Step 2: Once you’re in the settings menu, you'll see a list of options on the left-hand side. The one you need to select is 'Network & Internet '. This is where you'll find the settings for your Wi-Fi connection.
Step 3: In the “Network & Internet” section, ensure that Wi-Fi is turned on.
Step 4: With Wi-Fi turned on, click the “Show available networks" drop-down.
Step 5: Under “Show available networks,” select the “Eduroam” network and click connect. If you’ve never logged into Eduroam before, you’ll need to sign in when prompted. You can sign into Eduroam using your full Calvin email address as your username and your Calvin passphrase as your password. If you are not signed into the Eduroam Wi-Fi network, you will not be able to log onto the server.
Step 6: After you log into the Eduroam Wi-Fi network, you will want to click on the “Eduroam properties” drop-down.
Step 7: In the Eduroam Properties menu, select “Private network”. DO NOT SELECT PUBLIC NETWORK
Step 8: Scroll to the left of the menu and select “Network & Internet.” Once in the “Network & Internet" menu, select the “Advanced Network Settings” drop-down toward the bottom of the menu.
Step 9: In “Advanced Network Settings,” scroll down and select the “Advanced Sharing Settings” drop-down.
Step 10: In the “Advanced Sharing Settings” menu, ensure that “Network Discovery” is turned on.
Step 11: Navigate back to your home screen. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select the “File Explorer” app (Folder icon).
Step 12: In the “File Explorer” app, scroll to the left and right-click “This PC”.
Step 13: After right-clicking “This PC,” select “Map Network Drive” from the pop-up menu.
Step 14: When the “Map Network Drive” menu pops up, under “Drive,” select the letter “T.”
Step 15: After selecting the drive letter, check both the “Reconnect at sign-in” and “Connect using different credentials” boxes. Copy the following phrase into the space following the word “Folder” (Note: do not copy the colon. Begin copying at the first back slash and finish copying after the word “students”): \\Comm-Media-Server\students
Step 16: When the “Enter Network Credentials” box pops up, you will most likely not see anything in the username box; that’s okay. Select the “More choices” option at the bottom of the pop-up.
