Your landlord is not legally mandated to reduce or waive your rent this month. It may be a good idea to ask them to reduce/waive it, but they can still say no.

Here's an example:

Dear {Your Landlord's Name Here},

I hope you are staying well during this difficult time.

The coronavirus has impacted many businesses in our community and suddenly reduced my income. I am actively searching for work in areas like grocery delivery and warehousing but am concerned that, if the crisis continues, I will end up in financial trouble.

For previous months, I have reliably paid my rent on time. As a gesture of goodwill, would you be willing to take any steps to lighten my financial burden during this difficult time for our community?

Best,

{Your Name Here}
