This month I set out to create a project that could showcase my business skills in a holistic manner. I chose drop shipping and challenged myself to open and advertise a shop in 3 weeks. Feel free to click around to see how I did it!

This week, as part of my drop shipping project this month, I compiled a list of Amazon's top products and found equivalents on Oberlo. Above is a video showing how I did it and below is a write up on the process of doing so.

Sorting through the Amazon lists

I went through three lists; Amazon most wished for, top sellers, and movers and shakers. Brand name electronics, gift cards, video games, etc. are going to be out of reach for AliExpress so I decided to focus on clothes, kids, toys, and electronics. Toys and electronics are hot items and showed up multiple times across the lists.

Once I had my categories selected, I took screenshots of the top 16 products and compiled them onto a document. I then chose 5-7 from each major category and checked for equivalents on Oberlo.

Finding equivalents on Oberlo and checking suppliers

Once I started looking for products on Oberlo, I had to come up with criteria with which to pick them. After some clicking around looking for customer feedback figures, I decided to only pick products from suppliers that have 90% positive feedback and had been open for a few years. Additionally, I checked that the order volume for the product in the last few months was high. There were a lot of listings with low order volume even under 100 or 50 orders in the last few months so I avoided those.

Now that I have an item list ready in Oberlo, all I have to do is import it to the Shopify store I'm launching next week and get started!
