Finding accommodation in Göteborg can be very tough. Start to search as soon as possible.

In Sweden, there are 2 types of lease/rental contract.
We recommend that you quickly register in queues for all “first-hand” contracts. (You may need a Personal Number and Bank ID)
However, your first apartments will most likely be “second-hand”. Use the links below to get started:
Type of contract | Maximum rental duration | Is there a queue? | Where to search for apartments? |
---|---|---|---|
“Second-hand” | Less than 2 years | No | blocket.se |
Facebook groups (beware of frauds!) | | “First-hand” | No limit | Yes | sgs.se (Free. Good for students)
chalmersstudentbostader.se (Free. Good for students)
homeq.se (Free. You could potentially get something after just 6 months.)
boplats.se (Queue costs 200 SEK/year. Average queue time is 4 years. Good for after the PhD) |
More information on housing can be found here.
IMPORTANT: It is mandatory to take a Housing Insurance. Remember to update it every time you change apartment.
For second-hand furniture, look on blocket.se, smartakartan and Facebook marketplace.
