Equilibrium is a venture studio working on core infrastructure for the distributed web. We work on a variety of open source projects including Rust IPFS, OrbitDB and interledger-rs. We are looking for a freelance / contract technical writer, somebody who can primarily create high-quality technical content, but has some other adjacent skills as well in the form of graphic design and/or video editing. The position is remote-first, but we hope to get some face time in the form of company retreats if such things are ever possible post-pandemic.

You would be working directly with the VP of Engineering to give Equilibrium a unique and remarkable identity, in the form of outbound content and media about the technologies we work with, and our work within those technologies.

We realize we are asking for quite a scattering of skills in this post, but this is a unique opportunity to help define the “face” of Equilibrium, and we need an individual up for the challenge.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

• Writing technical content in the form of, but not limited to:
  • Technical documentation
  • Project update and announcement posts
  • Tutorial posts about our open source projects
  • Technical grant applications
  • Mailing list missives and social media posts
• Creating technical videos for educational purposes.

Must-have skills and qualifications:

• A keen interest and familiarity with the basic concepts of the Rust and JavaScript programming languages*.* You don’t need to be a programmer, you just need to be able to write about the technology we use **
• A solid portfolio of published writing samples about cryptography, cryptocurrencies, decentralized / distributed technology, or equivalent technologies
• Experience with popular publishing platforms and/or web development experience in HTML + CSS
• Full proficiency in English

Good-to-haves:

• Ability to periodically work morning in the Americas and/or evening in the EU
• Examples of videos you have edited or created
• Examples of vector or raster graphic designs you have created
