Equilibrium is a venture studio working on core infrastructure for the distributed web. We work on a variety of open source projects including Rust IPFS, OrbitDB and interledger-rs. We are looking for an open source community manager, somebody who can help attract and maintain contributors to projects as well as organize the various issues, pull requests, and documentation, all in an effort to streamline and optimize the open source projects we work within. The position is remote-first, but we hope to get some face time in the form of company retreats if such things are ever possible post-pandemic.
You would be working directly with technical team leaders to give Equilibrium a strong reputation in terms of community management, in the form of a gold-standard experience of interacting with and contributing to our open source projects, as well as those of our clients.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Generating, documenting, and finally executing an overall strategy in terms of OSS community management.
- Attracting new contributors to the projects
- Conflict resolution (if the need arises)
- Scheduling and running community calls for OSS projects
- Finding opportunities for collaboration between our projects and other projects both upstream and downstream
- Nurturing relationships between our projects and their maintainers and contributors
- Onboarding users and contributors with proper README files and other forms of critical documentation
Must-have skills and qualifications:
- Roughly 3 years experience in open source software community management or general community management experience in a commensurate field
- A solid portfolio of community management experience on a public platform like GitHub or GitLab.
- Experience with a multitude of online chat platforms such as Slack, Gitter, Matrix, Discord, and/or IRC.
- Full proficiency in both written and spoken English
Good-to-haves:
- Web development experience in HTML + CSS or experience with popular publishing platforms such as Medium or WordPress
