Hedging is like an insurance where you buy Put Options so that in case there is an imminent major fall in markets, you earn money from Put Options which compensates for the erosion in your portfolio so that sizable drawdowns could be prevented.

Note that -

1. This feature is only for Indian equities and for those whose net worth lets them afford to lose the premium in case market doesn't go down as expected.
2. This feature is advisable only in scenarios of large imminent falls [e.g., Ukraine-Russia war scenario does not form a part of that category but Covid’2020 did].
