1. Heat cramps

Heat Cramps

Mild; can happen to any healthy person who develop fluid and electrolyte depletion

painful muscular contractions lasting a few minutes with muscle tenderness

able to sweat; no neurologic abnormalities

normal body temp:

rest; oral fluid and salt replacement

Heat Exhaustion

more severe than heat cramps

body temp: may be slightly elevated

mild neurologic symptoms - headache, nausea and anxiety

can progress to heat stroke if not treated

still able to sweat and remove heat from the body
