Installing Softspace On Oculus Quest

Before we begin, please follow the instructions provided by Oculus to get your Quest up and running. There are detailed guides available at: support.oculus.com.

The following steps should take you about 15 minutes to complete.

1. Enable Developer Mode

While Softspace is in pre-release, you'll need to enable Developer Mode on your Oculus Quest to install and use the Softspace app.

Please follow these instructions, as found in Oculus' developer documentation:

"To begin development locally, you must enable developer mode for the Oculus device in the companion app on your mobile phone. Before you can put your device in developer mode, you must belong to (or have created) a developer organization on the Oculus Dashboard."

"To create a new organization:

  1. Go to https://dashboard.oculus.com/organizations/create/.
  2. Fill in the appropriate information."

"Enable Developer Mode"

"Once you belong to a developer organization, follow these steps to put your device in developer mode:

  1. Open the Oculus app on your iOS or Android phone.
  2. In the Settings menu, select the Oculus headset that you want to use for development.
  3. Select More Settings.
  4. Toggle Developer Mode on."

Please restart your Quest after enabling Developer Mode to ensure that the new functionality is fully reflected on your headset.

2. Install Softspace

Once Developer Mode has been enabled on your Quest, you're ready to install the Softspace app onto it. To do this, you will use a tool called SideQuest.
