According to the World Health Organization (2023), anxiety disorders affect over 301 million people worldwide, and attacks can peak within just 10 minutes, which is long before a person can reach help. Yet, over 60% of people never receive real-time support during an episode, which often leads to long-term health complications and a lower overall quality of life.
Devices and apps today have come a long way in detecting and tracking anxiety, but most only provide mindfulness after the fact. They log data but fail to effectively intervene when it matters most.
Anxiety doesn’t schedule a Teams meeting on your calendar. It doesn’t announce itself or wait until you’re ready. And once it consumes you its hard to break out of the loop.
That’s why we built Haven: a system designed to bridge the gap between detection and intervention, bringing adaptive, AI-driven calm directly into your reality.
Haven acts as an always-present AI companion that continuously and passively tracks a user’s emotional state. Using heart-rate data from an Apple Watch and voice analysis via LiveKit, it monitors for early signs of panic or distress in real time — with no manual input required.
When Haven detects key phrases, vocal tension, or heart-rate spikes, it activates the Claude API, which analyzes the past 30 seconds of contextual audio along with biometric data to classify the user into three states:
If the user is classified as uneasy or distressed, Haven transitions into Therapy Mode. In a calm, conversational tone, it gently asks, “Would you like me to help you calm down?”
Once the user confirms with a simple voice command, Haven uses LiveKit to become a real-time voice therapist, speaking naturally and responding dynamically. The system guides the user through:
The session continues until Haven detects both voice and heart rate have returned to baseline, or until the user verbally says, “I’m satisfied with my care.”
Where Haven truly stands apart is its VR integration. Unlike other AI therapy tools that rely on static environments or manual scene selection, Haven uses four specialized AI agents to dynamically transform the user’s actual surroundings into a personalized calming space:
