Email providers signify that non-delivery of your emails using bounces. There are a number of reasons why your email bounces, but this article concerns hard bounces.
A hard bounce occurs when an email receiver permanently rejects a message because the email address is invalid or doesn't exist.
Sendloop monitors every hard bounce originating from email campaigns associated with your account. In addition, Sendloop makes note of any spam complaints, as well the opt-out rates, related to your account.
If you hard bounce rate exceeds 0.5%, we will flag your account for activity expressly forbidden by our anti-spam policy.
Ways to Lower Your Hard Bounce Rate
To reduce your hard bounce rate, you can:
- Use your own email lists: Never use a third-party email list, since you aren't in control of how the email addresses were procured
- Enable double opt-in: Whenever someone subscribes to your list, send a confirmation email that requires action on the user's part. This does double-duty by ensuring that the email address you've received is valid and the user wants to receive your emails.
- Maintain good email list hygiene: Use an email list verification service (such as Kickbox or Hunter if you're targeting an email campaign toward an old/passive subscriber list. This will remove invalid emails, as well as non-responders, from your lists.
