RealFi Hack is a fully virtual hackathon for builders working at the intersection of technology and real-world impact. It’s a space to prototype, experiment, and launch systems that help communities coordinate, govern, and thrive.

By participating in RealFi Hack, you agree to the rules below.

Participation

The hackathon is open globally to anyone who is 18 or the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction. You can participate individually or in teams of up to 5 people.

Participants may join a team after the hackathon has started, but each participant can only be part of one team. Team formation is flexible—you may join alone and connect with others through FtC’s RealFi Hack Discord or Funding the Commons Telegram.

Employees of hackathon sponsors are welcome to participate and can win prizes, but they may not submit to bounties sponsored by their own organization. Mentors and judges are not eligible to participate as competitors in the hackathon.

We expect all participants to engage respectfully and collaboratively. Harassment, discrimination, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Organizers reserve the right to disqualify participants or submissions that violate these rules or otherwise undermine the integrity and fairness of the hackathon.

Submissions

Projects must be submitted through DevSpot by October 16, 2025 at 6:00 PM US ET time.

Each participant must have an active DevSpot profile at the time of submission. Projects are submitted through a single project entry, and team members can be added or invited by the project creator directly within DevSpot.

Each submission should include:

Each bounty can have specific criteria/requirements, so please review them carefully.

All submissions must align with at least one bounty or challenge, though you may participate in multiple if you meet the criteria for each.

You are welcome to use existing libraries, frameworks, or prior work as building blocks. However, the core value of your submission—meaning the primary functionality, novel features, and original contributions—must be developed during the hackathon period. Projects that simply repackage existing work without significant new contributions will not be considered valid submissions.

Submissions should not include unnecessary personal data, unlawful or discriminatory material, or content that violates intellectual property rights.
