Henoch-Schönlein Purpura (HSP)

more common in children
GIT - colicky pain (due to local vasculitis), bleeding, intussusceptions
Skin - palpable purpura distributed symmetrically over the lower legs, buttocks, and arms
Joint- arthralgia, most commonly affect the knees and ankles
Renal - 20%-50% of children; may occur as late as 4-6 wks afer onset of the illness
presents with hematuria >>similar to IgA nephropathy due to IgA-mediated leukocytoclastic vasculitis
however, do not test IgA levels which is not reliable
