ABOUT THE DEVELOPER


(From a talk I held at a local meetup)
David Vinokurov is a solo game developer from Israel, he’s usually developing his early access game “Netherguild” but during a gamejam early in January 2025, he has stumbled upon an idea that’s also worth making. In February he started working on it seriously, deciding to release it later during the year. So he’s working on two games at the same time now!!! because he can. And because it’s fun.

Here’s a player enjoying it in a physical event (got to present my games in a local game dev conference for the first time in my life on May! which was very exciting).

About the game
A unique roguelite where you gather allies and build the perfect team in a dangerous enchanted forest.
Navigate events, fight enemies and dig through ruins while trying to avoid the creeping magical fog… Will your team endure… or be lost to the mist?
Key features
- Drafting your team
- Each party member has different abilities, synergies and choices in events - the player has to build a good scaling machine to be able to take on the final boss!
- 5-10 minute runs
- A perfect coffeebreak roguelite that’s easy to learn yet deep enough to keep you coming for more.
- Takes about an hour to reach your first victory.
- The Fog
- A fog closes in from the edge of the map - a constant danger you have to keep your distance from.
- As the fog advances, your pool of available tiles to visit grows slimmer at every step… so move carefully!

- How did you start making this game?
Heroes Against Time started as an entry for the 2nd Neuro-Sama game jam (https://superobot1.itch.io/sea-of-memories), a 3 day gamejam which ended in at the end of December 2024.
It was addicting enough that developer David Vino decided to turn it into an actual full game… (while working on his other project)
He started working on it in earnest during February, struggling to find a good art direction at first but ultimately succeeding and leveling up in the process.
- Which tools did you use to make this game?
Heroes Against Time was created in Unity, with the sprites being made in Aseprite.
