Welcome to the AISC Time Series discussion group!

Our goal

Our aim is to have high-quality discussions about time series, covering both statistical and deep learning methods. Each week we deep dive into a time series topic, method, application, and/or paper!

Roles

The workload is distributed among several members. Here is a short description of each role:

1. Main Presenter
   • Study and present the chosen topic of the week during the weekly call.
   • The presenter is expected to deep dive into the algorithm/concept and be prepared to answer questions from the audience.
2. Facilitators
   • Facilitators support the main presenter in the presentation, helping out with answering member questions, and raising discussion points about the subject - its applications, its predecessors, its limitations, future research scope etc.
3. Implementer
   • A group of 2-5 people will reproduce the results of a paper or use the output from the paper on another downstream task. This team is also expected to give a short demo during the presentation.
4. RECIPE Creators
   • A group of 2-5 people who will document all the things learned by the group in the form of learning recipes on the ai.science website. They could optionally come up with their own content blogs/videos. RECIPE Example

Expectations from you

• As a member of the study group, you are expected to deep dive into a time series topic and present your findings on a rotating basis.
  • We recommend teaming up with others from the group and talk with them during the week to discuss the subject you are studying.
• While attendance is not mandatory, it is strongly encouraged. We are looking for committed individuals.

What else?

So many good things, here are some of the highlights.

• There are various ML discussion groups under AISC. We have a Mega Meetup every 6 weeks where all the discussion groups come together and present their topics. It is a nice chance to meet and chat with other ML researchers and practitioners. The best team gets a surprise award!
• There are some guest speakers on the way.

• We keep an eye out for time series based competitions. There is a very good chance that we will join a competition in the upcoming months.
