One thing I’ve learned from working at ByteDance-alum companies and alongside startup founders like Cory Zue is that they treat experimentation like religion, and not just on the growth side.

On the growth side, there’s an almost obsessive amount of A/B testing, from button colors to hero images.

But what really impressed me was how equally scientific they are on the ops side. At Byte-alum startups, you’ll find Slack bots automating practically everything:

And honestly, it makes perfect sense. Nobody wants an exchange like this:

Product Manager: “Hey, what’s our conversion rate from free → paid?”

Engineer: (spins in chair) “Uhh… good question.” types into Retool

Engineer: “Hold up… it’s loading… just one sec…” awkward silence fills the Zoom call

Engineer: “Alright, got it! Now, let me just… analyze it.”

Product Manager: (stares blankly) “So… next week then?”

That’s why these teams automate everything. The less time you spend fetching numbers, the more time you spend moving them.

so let’s BUILD a smaller version of that where a slack bot just introduces itself from mentions to get something like below!!
