At Relay, we believe that meaningful growth doesn’t happen by accident — it happens through intentional effort, consistent reflection, and supportive rituals. That’s why we embrace the mindset of #getting1%bettereveryday.

To bring that mindset to life, we’ve built six core Growth & Development rituals designed to help every Relayer build a long-term, fulfilling career here. These recurring touchpoints create space to reflect, learn, grow, and take action — together.

Because your growth is not just encouraged at Relay — it’s built into how we work.

🌟 Growth & Development Plans

  1. Why they matter: Your Growth & Development Plan is more than a document — it’s a personal roadmap that brings clarity and focus to your career journey at Relay. It helps you define where you want to go, what skills you need to get there, and how we can support you along the way.
  2. What they are: A living, evolving plan that captures your career aspirations, identifies growth opportunities, and outlines the development actions that will move you forward.
  3. When they happen: Growth Plans are created early in the year (typically January) and formally reviewed in July. But they’re not meant to sit on a shelf — bring them into your weekly 1:1s and quarterly check-ins to keep your growth front and center.

🤝 Weekly 1:1s

  1. Why they matter: Weekly 1:1s are the heartbeat of a strong relationship between you and your leader. They build trust, deepen understanding, and create space to align on what matters — your growth, challenges, and success.
  2. What they are: Open, coaching-focused conversations led by you. These meetings are your space to bring up goals, roadblocks, wins, and ways your leader can support your journey.
  3. When they happen: We strongly encourage weekly check-ins — the format, timing, and duration are flexible, so make them work for you and your leader.

🔄 Quarterly Check-ins

  1. Why they matter: Quarterly check-ins are your opportunity to zoom out and reflect on the bigger picture — what you’ve achieved, where you’ve grown, and what’s next. They’re a powerful moment to exchange feedback, celebrate progress, and refocus on future impact.
  2. What they are: Deep, two-way conversations focused on your performance, impact, and development from the past quarter — and your intentions and priorities for the next. The outcomes are documented so you can track your growth over time.
  3. When they happen: These check-ins happen in place of a weekly 1:1 at the start or end of each quarter, giving you and your leader dedicated time to reflect and realign.
