Free delivery matching for medical professionals

Overview

When COVID19 hit Canada, grocery delivery services quickly became completely subscribed, and that meant medical professionals (at high risk of contracting and spreading the disease) would need to go into grocery stores to make their weekly food purchases.

Four friends and I co-founded GroceryHero to help address this by matching frontline medical workers with a volunteer grocery shopper in their neighbourhood.

We operated GroceryHero in our spare time for 5 months; in that time, GroceryHero...

• Expanded from the GTA to Canada-wide; with over 8,000 signups of medical professionals and volunteer grocery shoppers
• Successfully made 4,000 matches, with over 70% of those matches between Canadians who live within 1km of each other
• Received public endorsements from the Mayors of Toronto and Ottawa, the Ontario Minister of Health, the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada, and other notable public and private figures
• Secured coverage in the National Post, CTV, CP24, Betakit, Global News, and a number of other news networks
