—GENERAL TIPS
- Watch my IG story highlights & vlogs lol not to self promo but it gives a good idea of how much you can get done in a day.

- Bring your student ID (even if expired) everywhere
- A lot of archeological sites & museums give student discounts
- Water is like 50 cents for a bottle at all the little snack/drink stands, this is your reminder to stay hydrated ESPECIALLY if it is hot out!!
- Coffee Island is the Greek Coffee chain. Get a Freddo Cappuccino!!
- GET A GYRO. TAKEOUT FROM LITERALLY ANY STAND. I location tagged my favorite on the map (Savvas)!! Takeout is also generally cheaper and has more streetfood vibes.
- Pronounce Gyro correctly or you will be that American tourist lol- it rhymes with hero!
- If you want a local sim card make sure your phone is unlocked!! You can ask your phone provider if you don’t know if your phone is unlocked and they can let you know. Vodafone had a stand at the Airport, unlimited data is like $30 for a month I believe but you can also get smaller packages depending on how long you are there. Vodafone also covers a bunch of countries in the EU if you are traveling around and don’t want to pick up a bunch of sim cards
—FOOD
Starters
- Baked feta omg so so so so good
- Dolmadakia: stuffed grape leaves
- Keftethes (Meatballs): Greek meatballs
Mains
- GYRO. GET SO MANY. It is pita bread stuffed with pork or chicken, tomato, lettuce, onion, tzatziki, and fries, sometimems topped with spices
- Tzatziki: sauce made from thick strained yogurt, garlic, olive oil, and fresh dill
- Souvlaki: basically the same as a gyro but the meat is prepared differently
- Moussaka: think lasagne but make it greek, subtract pasta and add eggplant
- Pastitsio: similar concept to moussaka but add pasta
- Spanakopita: spinach pie in flaky pastry. The bakeries sell GIANT squares of spanakopita for like €2, it is a really cheap meal if you don’t want to spend money. I location tagged the bakery I went to daily (Attica Bakery).
