The goal is to carefully vet and select qualified community members or anyone seeking to participate in our DAO as a contributing member that are qualified to speak, translate, and answer questions in key languages. The languages of particular interest are: Russian, Chinese, German, Korean, Japanese, and Spanish. These five languages were selected by a quick analysis of a mixture of purchasing power, crypto adoption per capita, and leaders in blockchain development / innovation outside of English speaking countries.

The languages are not fixed, rather fluid and will likely be filled in at different times depending on availability and demand. As new international members are added, new languages sections should be created in Discord and Discourse, which will become the responsibility of the language leader to stay engaged in.

As new international members are added, separate “other languages” sections should be created in Discord, and possibly Discourse, in accordance to the language.

Flexible Timelines / Milestones

Finding team members for each language all at once may prove to be difficult, as we are looking for high quality, long-term contributors. However, as each international member is added to the team, there should be a generalized timeline and deliverables to keep consistency and fairness.

For each new members that are added to the team I propose the following generalized but not absolutely fixed timeline:

  1. Milestone A: Getting familiarized with the community, ShapeShift, ShapeShift DAO, KeepKey, Portis, and everything related to the governance process. Basically “basic training bootcamp” to ensure that the new member is ready to begin, as well as a ‘get-to-know the member’ time period as they participate (in English first) on Discord and Discourse with existing members. Time: 7 Days
  2. Milestone B: Quick evaluation of the proposed team member in the following areas: sociability, professionalism, understanding of ShapeShift and DAO, and language capabilities. Time: 3 Days
  3. Milestone C: Translation works begins. Translated documents begin rolling in one by one, and the initial quality check is being done on an ongoing / rolling basis.
  4. Ongoing processes: Review our processes, document our challenges and successes for any future translation work / global marketing initiatives that will come, and begin discussions with the marketing workstream (which will hopefully be running and kickin’ by then) about potentially integrating our team into a more long-term global initiative project.

The goal is to have one or two new language leaders added per month, until our target languages are all met.
