Welcome to the GetYourRefund National Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) volunteer onboarding page! Code for America is collaborating with our partners to create a national team of VITA volunteers passionate about economic justice work. This initiative is critical to ensuring every GetYourRefund client is able to get their taxes prepared successfully, especially those coming from underserved communities.
Each Onboarding track is meant to meet you where you are at in your volunteering journey. Much of the training is self-paced, but volunteers who are completely new to VITA certification typically take about 10 hours to be ready to prepare taxes at the highest level. The longest steps are related to your training as a tax preparer, so depending on your experience, you may be able to move through the process more quickly.
Regardless of your background or experience, we are so pleased to have you join us as we work to get low-income households the financial support they are entitled to coming out of this difficult year!
