As a PhD student, you are studying part-time and can be eligible for a Student Grant / Loan.

Key info:
- The grant is around 1 300 SEK/month.
- Typical interest rate for the loan is 2%.
- You can take a maximum of 25 years to repay your loan, and it must be fully repaid by the time you turn 64.
How to apply
- Log in to csn.se and go to Mina sidor
- Click on “Studiemedel”, then "Ansök om studiemedel”
- As a PhD, fill in the form as seen below:

- Each semester, you need to declare on csn.se the exact number of credits you will get in the upcoming semester. (You have until 4 weeks into the semester to apply). For a given semester, you must register at least 15 credits to be eligible for a grant for that semester.
- As a PhD student, you will be studying for a total of 4 years to get 240 credits. However, only credits from the courses count for CSN, not the credits from the licentiate or the thesis
After your grant is approved:
- Chalmers will automatically register your credits on Ladok, and CSN will look at them there.
- When your salary changes (e.g., after licenciate or usual union negociation) you must update it on CSN via Mina Sidor.
