How am I going to make enough money to live?

UAW as well as UOSW will use strike funds to pay striking workers. Strike pay is 500 dollars a week and the only condition to getting it is spending 15 hours on the picket line.

What is scabbing?

Scabbing is when a worker refuses to walk out with their fellow coworkers or takes a job replacing the work of someone on strike. Scabbing is a betrayal of your fellow workers and a betrayal of the collective decision made in the strike vote.

Do I have to strike if we vote to?

There are no legal consequences to not striking. However, it betrays the rest of our workers and will lead to worse pay and working conditions for everyone.

I don’t work in the bargaining unit. How do I avoid crossing the picket line?

Don’t take extra hours if offered. It’s tricky when jobs so closely overlap, but avoid extra hours or responsibilities you wouldn’t normally have.
