Mission

Our mission is to help stop climate change by accelerating the transition to a zero carbon economy. Businesses are a key actor in this transition, and corporate climate programs are becoming ubiquitous thanks to investor expectations, employee enthusiasm, regulatory requirements [pdf], supply chain pressure, customer brand, and corporate peer pressure.

But we've seen firsthand that it's a hard problem. At Stripe, we built the climate program and were surprised how few tools existed in the space. Now we’re building the data sets, tools, and marketplace that businesses need to succeed.

Watershed provides everything that a business needs to have true climate impact: data analytics to understand their carbon footprint, tools to execute on carbon reductions, easy purchasing of clean energy and carbon offsets, and help communicating their impact. We launched the product in December 2019 and are live with paying customers who are using Watershed to cut carbon.

Full-stack Engineer

We are looking for a passionate engineer to join our team as a founding member. Our team previously built products at Airbnb, Airtable, Stripe, and elsewhere. We launched Stripe's climate program, learned from the experience there, and are now thrilled to work full-time on the climate problem.

We are looking for a team member who is excited to ship great products, while keeping a healthy balance of velocity and and engineering excellence. You will be joining as one of the very first people at Watershed and will help shape everything that comes next.

Watershed’s technical stack is the web frontend that our customers use, together with a backend of climate data, climate models, and plug-ins to various financial systems. We build new products in a customer-first way so you’ll be working quite a bit in React, TypeScript, CSS, Node.js etc. There’s no need to be a prior expert in our stack — it’s more important that you’re good at picking up technologies quickly.
