You don’t need 100 emails or a massive list to grow your Shopify store sales.

You need a lean, strategic set of flows that convert your browsers into buyers (and your buyers into repeat customers).

This checklist gives you the 5 highest-ROI flows to set up first, what they should do and how to know if they’re working.

STEP 1: Meet your inbox A-Team

(aka the 5 flows that do the heavy lifting for you)


STEP 2: Are they actually pulling their weight?

(how to tell if your flows are making you money or just hanging out)

Ask yourself:

1️⃣ Are you making at least 35% of your total store revenue from Klaviyo (ideally as a small biz you’ll be closer to 40-45%)?

You can find that % here on the home screen of your Klaviyo account. ↓

2️⃣ Are your top-performing flows in this order?

If not, then it’s time to investigate why.

Fix this by reviewing the flow-level analytics.

Which emails are bringing in sales, which ones aren’t?

Focus on improving the ones that aren’t.

If an email has a low open rate → A/B test a new subject line.

If an email has a low click rate → A/B test a new CTA (the words on the button that prompt the action. And no, SHOP NOW is not good enough).

If an email has a low placed order rate → A/B test a new reason to buy now in the email copy/content.

If an email has a high unsubscribe rate → review the content. That means the content is different to what the person was expecting to receive or the content is not relevant to them or they are receiving too many messages too often from you.

3️⃣ Are you sending a weekly campaign to drive people from your newsletters into your flows?

The role of campaigns is to send people from their inbox back to your site so that they view a product (and then get your Browse Abandon flow) or even better, add something to their cart (and get your Abandoned Cart flow). The job of these campaigns is to feed your flows! So if your “abandon” flows aren’t bringing in sales, check how many people are actually going through the flows. Maybe there’s just not enough people.

Fix this by sending more campaigns.

4️⃣ Are you driving fresh traffic to your site with paid ads?

Without new faces on your site to see your pop up, you’ll have fewer people going through your welcome flow, which is your highest-converting flow. So if you’ve turned off your Meta ads for example, this could be why your Welcome flow isn’t converting.

Most brands either skip flows completely or think 1 or 2 emails in a flow is enough (it’s not).
