1) How do I run the auction?

Format is completely up to the ST for how auctions should be run. I've done top of the day, announce the item, take bids throughout the day, then let the winner know secretly prior to nominations. I've seen before nominations, the item is announced so no private chat about the actual ability occurs. As long as an auction starts and ends once per day, regardless of the duration of said auction, that's satisfying the Djinn.

2) If the player is drunk, poisoned, killed, or executed, does the ability still function?

The ability comes from the Djinn. The Djinn cannot be drunk or poisoned so the ability is considered sober at all times, even if the player becomes drunk or poisoned. Additionally, they can be executed or die that night, but still use the Djinn granted ability.

3) Can players share gold or bid in increments smaller than 1?

Players cannot share gold nor can they bid in smaller increments than 1 gold. .5 gold is NOT allowed!

4) Can the ability be off-script or custom?

The ability does not necessarily need to be on-script. All the Djinn says is "an ability", go wild! Create your own, use an established homebrew, or be creative! As long as players know what they are bidding on, the Djinn is satisfied.

5) When does the ability stop working?

Abilities can persist past the dawn, but they are no longer possessed by that player that won it at the next dawn. If you auction the Sweetheart ability, and that player dies that night, a player does stay drunk for the rest of the game. If you auction a Witch ability, the player cursed by the Witch will still die if they nominate. If you auction an Artist ability, that player must use it before the night phase, or they lose their chance.

6) Do I need to tell the player to change their token? How does the granted ability work with abilities that see tokens?

Djinn granted abilities do not change a player's token. So if you auction a Snake Charmer ability and the Chef wins it and they pick the Imp, the Imp becomes a poisoned, good Chef and the previous Chef becomes an evil Imp. If the Dreamer were to pick the Chef who won the Snake Charmer ability, the good ability they'd see is the Chef token. The ability won from the auction is provided by the Djinn from the moment they win it to the next dawn. The Djinn grants the ability to any player that wins it, no matter if they are drunk, poisoned, or dead. Gold cannot be split, exchanged, or shared. The only time a player can receive their gold back is if they are evil and they bid the same amount as another player.

7) Do Grim Peekers (Spy/Widow) see the amount of Gold a player has left?

Grim Peekers should only be able to see established reminder tokens that would be on a Clocktower Grim. If you want to use reminder tokens to keep track of the Gold, you should not have those in view for any Grim Peekers.

8) How does the highest, unique bidding work and (bar evil ties)?

Good player 1 submits 7 gold Good player 2 submits 7 gold Evil player 1 submits 7 gold

Good player 3 submits 6 gold
