Summary

At Post Up, we’re building post-production infrastructure from the ground up, an end-to-end, metadata first pipeline that turns chaotic, file-based workflows into fast, deterministic systems. Our work in high performance media compute and orchestration removes technical friction so creative teams can focus on the work that matters.

We’re looking for our Founding Senior Backend Engineer to design and build core APIs and services that power our product. You’ll focus on performance, scalability, and reliability, ensuring we can serve millions of requests with speed and accuracy.

Location

This role is open to candidates based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. We operate as a remote-friendly team but are in office Tuesday-Thursday.

Compensation

• CAD $120,000 – $130,000 base salary, depending on experience.
• Equity is calibrated against compensation and role scope.
• Role and compensation may evolve as the company scales.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement services that ****interface with distributed storage systems to maximize throughput and reliability.
• Architect and implement backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Optimize databases and data flows for high availability and performance.
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code.
• Collaborate with frontend, product, and infra teams to deliver end-to-end features.
• Contribute to code reviews and mentor junior engineers.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Golang, TypeScript, Python.
• Experience with distributed filesystems, HPC storage, or large-scale I/O optimization is a strong plus.
• Experience with relational databases (Postgres) and caching systems (Redis).
• Understanding of distributed systems, messaging/queues, and API design.
• Experience with cloud-native environments (AWS/GCP/Azure, Kubernetes).

Bonus Points

• Experience with API integrations and third-party software integrations.
• Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies.
• Familiarity with data analytics and reporting tools.
• Certification in CRM platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc).
