Pina Earth enables forest owners to access carbon markets the easy way. We build software that automatically assesses forests and simulates its future development to allow us to quantify carbon stock changes over time. Forest owners can store additional carbon in their forests by adopting sustainable forest management practices. Each additional ton of carbon stored generates a "carbon credit". By investing in forest carbon projects, companies contribute to climate protection. Through the sale of carbon credits, forest owners benefit from a recurring income that is reinvested to create diverse, climate-resilient forests.

😲 About the opportunity

As one of our first full-time team members, you work directly with the founders in this high impact role to help us protect more forests. Your tasks as Forest Carbon Project Manager are both strategic and operational:

On the one hand, you develop the certification criteria and thus ensure that the impact of our projects is ensured. On the other hand, you implement projects and automate processes. You are the single source of truth regarding the status of a forest carbon project under development, you drive data collection and ensure project quality. This can mean e.g. providing forest owners with suggestions for site-appropriate tree species based on public data, getting info from our product/tech team about carbon projections, tapping into various data sources to perform a standardized risk assessment, or supporting the building of our internal project management platform with low-code tools to automate as many tasks as possible. It is a diverse and challenging role, with a lot of impact!

✅ Your responsibilities

Important goals of your role are:

Establishing a certification methodology that ensures long-term climate impact and is trusted by key market players
Owning and driving the project development process to ensure Pina Earth can make as much forest area as possible climate-resilient
Building a data-driven, scalable certification process to be able to execute many (small) projects at a high-quality with as little manual effort as possible

Your key tasks include:

Content and technical planning of central forest carbon methodology components
Implementation of parts of the methodology (e.g. risk analysis) and certification platform (e.g. internal management of projects)
Collaboration with our sales, product/tech team and with customers to gather relevant input
Representing Pina Earth to external stakeholders, such as the Waldklimastandard or TÜV to drive our methodology recognition
Monitoring key developments of regulatory bodies regarding carbon projects (e.g. Gold Standard, Verified Carbon Standard, EU) and translating them into product features
