The 14 allergenic substances covered by legislation are:

  1. eggs
  2. milk, including lactose
  3. fish
  4. crustaceans, such as prawns, crabs, crayfish and lobster
  5. molluscs such as mussels, whelks, squid, snails or oysters
  6. peanuts
  7. nuts, namely - almonds, walnuts, cashews, hazelnuts, pecan, brazil, macadamia, pistachio
  8. sesame
  9. cereals containing gluten, namely - wheat, rye, barley, oats
  10. soya
  11. celery, including celeriac
  12. mustard
  13. sulphur dioxide/sulphates, where added at a level above 10mg/kg or 10mg/L in the finished product
  14. lupin.
