- Introduce to students different economic and policy perspectives such as market
failure theory, public choice theory, and alternatives from development and
macroeconomics
- Explore how the concepts such as ‘public value’, ‘public good’ and related
concepts have been framed in philosophy, political science, economics and
governance, and how this has changed over time
- Explain key elements and features in public policy making and policy cycle
Knowledge and understanding:
- Understand the different economic and policy perspectives such as market
failure theory, public choice theory, and alternatives from development and
macroeconomics.
- Understand conceptual, theoretical and philosophical basis of public value in
different disciplines: public administration, economics, management, sociology,
and philosophy.
- Critically analyse public policy making from the public value perspective,
including different evaluation techniques (both qualitatively and quantitatively).
