1. Introduction
FloodWatch MY ("we", "our", "the app") is a flood monitoring and community safety app for Malaysia. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

2. Data We Collect

Location data — Your GPS coordinates are collected when you submit a flood report, road passability report, or safe area report. Location is never collected silently in the background; it is only read when you actively open the app.

User-submitted reports — Flood depth reports, safety incident reports, road condition reports, safe area markers, and comments you write are stored in our database and visible to other authenticated users of the app.

Display name — If you choose to set a display name for the leaderboard, that name is stored and shown publicly within the app.

Device identifier — Firebase Authentication assigns an anonymous user ID to your device on first launch. No email address or phone number is required.

3. How We Use Your Data

To display crowd-sourced flood reports on the map
To calculate the nearest evacuation centres based on your location
To show community-verified road conditions
To power the contributor leaderboard
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

5. Data Retention
Crowd reports expire automatically after 2 hours. Safe area and passability reports expire after 1–2 hours. Comments and leaderboard entries are retained until you delete them or request account deletion.

6. Children's Privacy
FloodWatch MY is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

7. Your Rights
You may request deletion of all data associated with your anonymous user ID by contacting us at the email below. Because authentication is anonymous, we cannot identify you by name — please provide your user ID from the app's profile screen.

8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
