If you find that you are having issues with your PIN or Windows is not able to set your PIN, you can delete the following "Ngc" folder in order to remove all the data about your current PIN settings.
- Ensure you are accessing your machine with admin permissions
- Go to "C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft" and find the folder therein called "Ngc"
- Delete this to clear all current PIN settings
- If you are unable to delete, this folder is likely owned by another user on the machine – which is what has caused the issues in the first place – and you will need to take ownership of this folder like this:
- Open a Command Prompt as an admin and enter the two following commands in sequence
- takeown /f C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\NGC
- icacls C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\NGC /grant administrators:f
