To be a part of Melbourne Fringe Festival you must have a venue to showcase your fabulous work, this could be an established venue, an independent venue, or a digital venue.

However, securing the perfect venue can be challenging.

Where are you going to hold your event? Is it at an established venue? A pop-up space? Your own lounge room?

Working in non-traditional or public spaces can be very fun but often requires a lot more work.

It’s also important to think about how big you want your venue to be – there’s no point in hiring a 150-seat theatre if you think you'll only get 20 audience members each night.

Once you’ve found a venue, how do you know if it’s the right venue for your show? If you think it is the right venue, how do you contact them, what should you say to ensure you’re booking the best place?

Before adding a venue to your registration, you MUST have confirmed your booking with the venue management at your desired venue. Applying to a venue through Eventotron is not enough to secure yourself a venue.

Whilst this may be a challenge, please keep in mind you will need to confirm your venue by the date registrations close. This means that your venue must be registered as a venue in Eventotron and have accepted your event. For more details regarding Eventotron please see here.

With all this information it’s hard to know where to start, and easy to get overwhelmed. But don’t worry, we’ve put together this information to make this potentially stressful process as easy as possible.

If you’re still feeling a little confused on where to start, you can always contact us here.

Festival Hub / Common Rooms

Festival Hub

Each year Melbourne Fringe programs and manages a variety of spaces collectively known as the Festival Hub. In 2022 we are excited to have Trades Hall as our Festival Hub.  To apply to have your event in the Festival Hub you will need to complete a separate Expression of Interest (EOI) form. EOIs for the Festival Hub are not yet open for 2022.

If you would like to chat to someone about presenting a show in the Festival Hub you can call the Fringe Office on 03 9660 9600 or email us at artists@melbournefringe.com.au – we're not scary, don’t worry!
