Hello! My name is Doan Duong and I am an empathetic UX/UI designer passionate about making dynamic and intuitive designs. My goal is to create seamless designs with a user center approach to cater to the needs of minorities and vulnerable population. My current interest lies in the healthcare and medical sector.
Coming into VDA, I was a beginner in graphics and visual design. My goal was to improve on using vectors and being more comfortable with using Illustrator and Photoshop. Now that the program is coming to an end, I feel a lot more comfortable with creating graphics and will continue to use what I learned to improve on my skills further. I am really glad to have had the opportunity to not only learn, but grow as a designer in gaining a new skillset!
A1: For my logo, I wanted to incorporate a sun and clouds because of my love for sunsets and the way to pronounce my name is “Dawn.”

A2: For the UI, I wanted to make a UI for a fitness app called “Forward.” I wanted to make the app easy to approach and a bit fun so that was the palette that I was aiming for.

A3: For the festival poster, I played around with different fonts and wanted to do a simple theme. However, I realized that after, the font was not in sync and the overall color palette was not very great. So I decided to create some adjustments (see second picture below). With these new adjustments, I feel that it made a big difference.

A4: For this assignment, I wanted to create a sticker. I was inspired by a sticky note that my friend gave me and I wanted to recreate that. For the first version, I made the peach’s hair black and upon peer feedback, I decided to remove the black outlines and make it brown and lighter. I wanted to make it softer and quirky.

F1 & F2: My partner, Susan Duong and I wanted to play around with the idea of comfort and something that was fun, creative, and quirky. We brainstormed a lot of different ideas and in the end, decided to create a plush brand company. We wanted to bring comfort and cuteness to everyone (age does not matter)! We wanted to give our plushies each a story to give it that quirkiness and uniqueness to the brand.
